Neda Zoghi 

Neda Zoghi (b. 1975, Tehran, Iran) is an Iranian painter, researcher, and educator whose practice is rooted in the classical tradition of Persian miniature painting and Islamic illumination (tazhib). Trained under distinguished Iranian masters at Sooreh University in Tehran, she has developed over three decades a distinctive visual language that holds tradition and contemporary concerns in productive tension.

Her artistic practice has evolved through four interconnected phases: illumination in support of calligraphy; figurative Persian painting engaging social themes; Quranic visual works; and a sustained dialogue with Malaysian architectural form and colour. Since relocating to

Malaysia in 2009, where she completed her PhD in Art and Islamic Civilization at the University of Malaya, the colours, geometry, and sacred spaces of Southeast Asia have entered her work not as decoration but as genuine artistic transformation.

She uses pure gold mixed with a natural adhesive — the classical method of Persian illuminators — alongside natural pigments and gouache on paper. Her subjects are the feminine as spiritual force and ecological guardian, the sanctity of motherhood, the geography of sacred sites, and the living dialogue between Persian and Southeast Asian artistic traditions. She continues to teach, research, and exhibit internationally.
