Tahira Noreen
Tahira Noreen is a visual artist based in Islamabad, Pakistan. She Graduated with honours in painting from the prestigious National College of Arts, Lahore. Noreen works on wasli with a precision cutter, creating linear abstractions that depict movement as experienced by her during her daily commute and travels.
Her work has been exhibited nationally at esteemed galleries such as Canvas Gallery, O Art Space, Khaas Gallery, Rohtas I and II, IVS Gallery, Full Circle and VM Gallery. Internationally she has showcased her work at Focus on: Pakistan at Artrooms Fair, London and at Cagebcn, Barcelona, where she was shortlisted for the BIG Awards 2019 . Noreen was also a participating artist in ‘Creatives in Residence’program in Hangzhou, China in 2012 and Dastangoi in Islamabad in October 2022.
Noreen is the recipient of the ADA Awards 2022-2023 in the category of 2D art. She has been shortlisted for TAF emerging artist award 2024. She was also honored with the Curator’s Award for her work in ‘We Are All Here,’ an exhibition that explored the utilization of maps and mapping in contemporary art.
In addition to being a practising artist, Noreen has extensive teaching experience at Fatima Jinnah University
and National University of Science and Technology, Islamabad.
